Home batteries, now with a €600 grant

Store the day’s solar for the evening, and charge on a cheap night rate in winter. SEAI now pays €600 towards a battery of 5 kWh or more.

The kit we fit

7 kW and above

Sigenergy SigenStor

An all-in-one stack: hybrid inverter, battery and energy management in one unit, with an optional DC EV charger. LFP battery modules you can add to later, rated IP66 for outdoors, with built-in fire suppression. 10-year warranty on the battery and controller. Our usual bundles come with 6 kWh or 10 kWh; the 10 kWh is better value.

Smaller systems

Solis S6 with Dyness

A Solis S6 hybrid inverter (10-year warranty, IP66, monitored in the SolisCloud app) with Dyness LFP batteries: 10-year warranty, designed for 8,000+ cycles, 95% usable. Critical circuits switch to backup in under 10 ms.

What the battery does to the bill

The same home and roof, with and without the battery. Switch it off and on: the battery keeps more of your own power for the evening, so you buy less.

Questions we’re asked

I already have solar. Can I add a battery?
Yes, in most cases. SEAI accepts applications for the battery grant on its own, and we’ll check what your existing inverter can take.
Will a battery keep the lights on in a power cut?
It depends on the system. Solis switches critical circuits to backup in under 10 milliseconds. Sigenergy can back up the whole house with its Gateway, which is an extra item.
Can I charge the battery on a night rate?
Yes. On a day/night or smart tariff the battery can charge on cheap night electricity in winter and run the house in the evening peak.
How long do batteries last?
Both Sigenergy and Dyness use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and carry a 10-year warranty. Dyness rates its batteries for 8,000+ cycles.
